This is a peer support event for NPAC families with children age 12 and under. Families will meet and take a hike and complete an art project. Snacks are provided.

Calling all adoptive families of the Northern region of Virginia! Join us
for a thrilling adventure at Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge in Lorton, VA, USA!
Lace up your hiking boots and get ready to explore the trails and
scenic views of this beautiful park. Whether you're a seasoned hiker or
a nature enthusiast, this in-person event is perfect for families with
adopted children 12 and under. Don't miss out on this exciting
opportunity to hike, connect with fellow adoptive families, make some
trail mix*, complete some nature activities and create lasting
memories. See you there!

ABOUT THE LEADER:
Kathleen “Katie” Quinn holds an MSW from George Mason University
and earned her Bachelor’s from North Central College in Naperville, IL.
She has always had a strong focus on child welfare and family support,
including participating in the Title IV-E Program while in graduate
school and writing her undergraduate thesis on the impact of media
portrayals on the foster care system. Katie’s previous experience
includes working in private intercountry adoption, therapeutic foster
care, and services for older youth. Most recently, Katie worked in
foster care prevention, in-home services, and foster care in Greene
County, VA. Katie is an avid hiker, having thru-hiked the Appalachian
Trail in 2018 and hiked half of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2022.
