Styles 4 Kidz Haircare

Join us for a fun haircare workshop and leave feeling confident in your ability to maintain the health of your child's hair.  In this workshop, you will get a brief introduction to textured hair basics for children of color, including which products to use and how to use them. You will receive hands-on instruction and practice with the guidance of S4K experts on several basic hairstyles (ponytails with twists, free-standing braids, and Bantu knots) for long hair and basic hands-on instruction on styling and moisturizing shorter hair.

Boxed lunches will be served at check-in prior to the start of the workshop.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1) Am I able to participate in the workshop if I do not currently have a child in
my care?

Yes. A mannequin can be provided or you can work along with another family
whose child is in attendance.

2) Who is the workshop open to?

The workshop is open to Transracial Adoptive parents, foster parents, social
workers, and caregivers.

3) Will the workshop include tools?
All the tools you need and products will be provided for the workshop.

4) I have more than one child who I need instruction for. Can I bring both
children?

There should be one parent per child or two parents for every child who needs
instruction.

5) How old should my child be to practice on their hair in the class?

They should be able to sit for two hours while you learn, usually about 2 years of
age. Handheld electronics and snacks are helpful distractions for your child to
bring along.
