Adoption Competency: State of Practice
A Quarter Century Reflection to Shape the Path Forward

DATE: Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM EST

LOCATION: 1801 K Street NW, Washington, DC

Optional:

Join us for Welcome Events on Monday, December 8

  • Welcome Wine Reception, beginning at 5:00pm, in the conference space of The Quincy Hotel preceding Welcome Dinner
  • Welcome Dinner, beginning at 6:30pm, at Pisco y Nazca DC

We’re convening a dynamic group of thought leaders, researchers, funders, policymakers, practitioners, and individuals with lived experience to reflect on the evolution of adoption competency—and commit to shaping its future. Your leadership and contributions in this space are part of the reason you’re receiving this invitation, and we want you to join us.

The event will include engaging panels and discussions that invite us to learn, reflect, and help shape the path forward for adoption-competent mental health care. We’ll also release our new “State of Practice” report, a robust, evidence-based reflection on the history, evolution, and future of adoption competence, including the release of new data affirming the effectiveness of our flagship Training for Adoption Competency (TAC) program.

For attendees traveling from outside the DC area, C.A.S.E. will also provide:

  • Hotel accommodation for the night of Monday, December 8
  • Breakfast on Tuesday, provided by the hotel

The Convening is generously funded by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption.

We hope you’ll be part of this important milestone!
