High School Teen Identity Group

Calling all parents of teen adoptees - and adoptees themselves - living in the Northern region of Virginia.*

Register Now for the FREE virtual 6-week High School Teen Adoptee Identity Support Group, led by C.A.S.E. Adoption Competent Therapists Frani Gutierrez, LCSW, and Anapaula Ojeda, LPC.

Adolescence is a tumultuous time; being adopted adds another layer of complexity. The Northern Post-Adoption Consortium (NPAC) is pleased to offer a FREE 6-week group for high-school-aged teen adoptees in 9th – 12th grades who reside in the Northern region of Virginia* to focus on connecting with other adopted teens, promoting identification as an adoptee, providing a safe space to share feelings and thoughts about their adoption experience and supporting their exploration of identity.

The Teen Adoptee Identity Support Group will meet on Zoom on Tuesdays at 5:00 pm starting January 28th and continuing on February4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, and March 4th. The group facilitators request that all youths enrolled commit to attending at least 5 of the 6 group meetings.


Registration is limited and will close January 6, 2025 at 11:59 PM.

Middle school students are encouraged to sign up for the middle school teen adoptee support group, meeting at the same dates. Please see more information here.

ABOUT THE FACILIATORS:

Frani Gutierrez, LCSW is currently a part-time adoption competent therapist working with C.A.S.E. clients in Virginia.
Frani has over 10 years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. She believes in the connection with her clients and supporting them in identifying their inner strengths in order to foster resiliency. She utilizes a strengths-based approach.  Frani started her career working at Domestic Violence Shelter. She then transitioned to in an inpatient psychiatric hospital with a focus on trauma informed care and crisis stabilization. She has experience working in private practice, in particular with individuals who are working through anxiety, depression, identity issues, trauma, life transitions, and loss.  She graduated from University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Family Studies. She also graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master of Social Work Degree. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia.


Anapaula Ojeda, LPC, serves clients via teletherapy throughout the state of Virginia. Anapaula earned her Master of Education degree in Counseling and Development at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia with a specialization in Community Agency Counseling. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Anapaula has provided individual, family, and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults. Most recently, she specialized in working with children and adolescents with a variety of mental health and substance abuse issues at a community services board. Anapaula has received training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She uses a strength-based approach and evidenced based treatment when working with clients. Anapaula was born in Peru and is fluent in Spanish.
