C.A.S.E. is pleased to offer a FREE 6-week group for high school aged teens (grades 9th-12th) who reside in Maryland to focus on connecting with other adopted teens, promoting identification as an adoptee, providing a safe space to share.

Maryland Families: 2025 High School Teen Identity Group

Adolescence is a tumultuous time and being adopted adds another layer of complexity. C.A.S.E. is pleased to offer a FREE virtual 6-week group for high school aged teens (grades 9th-12th) who reside in Maryland to focus on connecting with other adopted teens, promoting identification as an adoptee, providing a safe space to share feelings and thoughts about their adoption experience and supporting their exploration of identity.

The High School Teen Adoptee Identity Support Group will meet on Zoom on Monday, October 6th and continue meeting on Mondays for the rest of the group. The group facilitators request that all youths enrolled commit to attending at least 5 of the 6 group meetings.

ABOUT THE FACILIATORS:

Sarah Sullivan, LMSW earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Texas State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Human Service Studies from Elon University. Sarah began her career as the Director of Community Outreach and Education at a domestic violence agency before transitioning to child welfare and adoption work in 2015. With a deep commitment to supporting families and children, she has extensive experience working with all members of the adoption kinship network. She has a personal connection to adoption, with two siblings who are adopted.

Sarah draws from her experience and training in Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI), Integrative Attachment Family Therapy (IAFT), Adoption Clinical Training (ACT), and Training for Adoption Competence (TAC) to join with families. Her therapeutic approach is strengths-based and collaborative, focusing on attachment and trauma-informed care to foster healing and growth. Sarah supports families to explore their dynamics and strengthen their relationships.

Paris Terrell, LMSW earned her Master of Social Work Degree at Boston University with a specialization in Child, Youth, and Families and her Bachelor of Science Degree in Family and Human Services at Towson University. Paris was drawn to social work at Towson University during her Family Law class after the class focused on adoption law. She has previous experience working with waiting adoptive families as they navigate through the adoption process, as well as providing individual, family, and group therapy to children, youth, and families in various settings.

Most recently, Paris provided school based mental health services in Prince Georges County where she focused on crisis interventions in order to help support the students and school community. Paris enjoys working with transitional age youth with a strength-based and collaborative approach who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and loss.
